Local artists interpret local stories

For Immediate Release

Sudbury, October 14, 2014

We all have stories to tell. What would those stories look like transformed through art? Find out at Voices Chez Nous!

Myths and Mirrors Community Arts and Coalition for a Liveable Sudbury invite you to Voices Chez Nous at Cambrian’s College’s Open Studio, 93 Cedar St. (suite 303), downtown.

Opening: Saturday, October 25, 9:00 p.m. – 10:30 p.m. Join us for refreshments & community art.

Exhibit: October 25 – November 7. Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays: noon – 3:00 p.m.

Wednesdays: 5:00 p.m. -8:00 p.m. Join us to enjoy the exhibit and add to it if you choose.

Closing: Wednesday, November 5, 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Join us in celebrating the full exhibit.

Admission is free, but donations are welcome and will go towards supporting local artists and local grassroots community projects.

“Many people have generously shared their thoughts, stories and dreams about our community. Now we will see some of these take new life, as they are expressed through art,” says Naomi Grant of Coalition for a Liveable Sudbury.

Local artists will come together for two days of creation at the Open Studio, inspired by local voices collected during Coalition for a Liveable Sudbury’s Chez Nous on the Rocks project, and facilitated by Sarah King Gold of Myths and Mirrors. Special thanks go to Cambrian College’s Open Studio.

About Myths and Mirrors Community Arts - Myths and Mirrors helps to build community and gives people a voice through collaborative art making, story sharing and infusing art into our everyday lives. Find out more on their website at:

About the Sudbury Working Group

The Sudbury working-group of The Media Co-op was formed to create independent media in the North, to speak to our issues and outlooks on our communities as well as the world around us. Independent media provides an avenue for people who are wishing to gain critical perspective on the issues that matter most to us, and to give a voice to those people and stories that you won't find in the mainstream media.

Currently, the Sudbury working group is on pause, due to a lack of members.  If you are keen to take on the challenge of creating and supporting local grassroots media, please get in touch.

Contact us at or follow us on Facebook.

If we become active again, we encourage you to support local grassroots media by:

  • Getting a membership. Membership fees are intended to pay local writers for local content and support emerging writers.  Membership forms are here
  • Submitting content. We are able to pay for a limited number of strong local pieces.  Contact us to pitch an idea, or for story ideas.   See our Editorial Policy here.  We encourage local grassroots groups to submit content about their work, issues and events.
