This Thursday, Cambrian’s Wabnode Centre for Aboriginal Services hosts Métis Awareness Day on campus.

See below for more information, and please consider for broadcast or publication in community calendars and event listings. There will be excellent story, photo and video opportunities at the event.

On Thursday, November 20, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., please join the Cambrian College community, particularly our Métis students, faculty and staff, as they commemorate Louis Riel Day and celebrate Métis culture and history.

Louis Riel is recognized as a passionate defender of justice for the Métis people and one of the founders of the province of Manitoba. Riel was executed in 1885 for leading the Northwest Resistance in defense of Métis rights, culture and way-of-life.

The Métis Awareness event, held in Cambrian College’s Student Centre, is sponsored by the Wabnode Centre for Aboriginal Services and includes a feast, entertainment and informative displays. All are welcome to attend.

For more information, please contact Ryan Linklater Wong at 705-566-8101, ext. 6814.

About the Sudbury Working Group

The Sudbury working-group of The Media Co-op was formed to create independent media in the North, to speak to our issues and outlooks on our communities as well as the world around us. Independent media provides an avenue for people who are wishing to gain critical perspective on the issues that matter most to us, and to give a voice to those people and stories that you won't find in the mainstream media.
