MEDIA RELEASE: Rainbow Routes Trails4Life Program Hosts FREE Urban Poling Classes

The Rainbow Routes Trails4Life project is excited to announce the launch of FREE Urban Poling classes in the New Year starting January 19th!

The Trails4Life project trains individuals over age 55 in urban poling workshops in Sudbury, Espanola, Massey and on Manitoulin Island. Snowshoeing and cycling workshops will be launched in phase two and phase three of this project.

Partnered with the Sudbury & District Health Unit (SDHU), The City of Greater Sudbury (CGS), and Sudbury Bioski, Rainbow Routes received two year funding from the province to keep our communities active!

Our fully trained instructors will highlight some of the many beautiful trails in Sudbury during this course. Urban poling or Nordic walking uses 90% more muscles than just walking and turns walking into full body workout. This is a fun sport that is great for rehabilitation or to improve your posture, balance and stability. It burns 20-40% more energy than walking and Rainbow Routes provides the poles!

The Sudbury Urban Poling Schedule is as follows and participants can choose one or more of the following days:

Mondays 1-2 pm
Tuesdays 7-8 pm
Thursdays 10:30-11:30 am
Saturdays 9-10am

There is a limit of 20 people per class, so please contact Tracy Sanmiya at tracy.sanmiya@greatersudbury.ca or 705-674-4455 ext 4535 to sign up now or for more info!

About the Sudbury Working Group

The Sudbury working-group of The Media Co-op was formed to create independent media in the North, to speak to our issues and outlooks on our communities as well as the world around us. Independent media provides an avenue for people who are wishing to gain critical perspective on the issues that matter most to us, and to give a voice to those people and stories that you won't find in the mainstream media.
