MEDIA RELEASE: Earth Day Festival Media Advisory

Blog posts reflect the views of their authors.

reThink Green, a local Sudbury environmental organization, is hosting this
year’s Earth Day Festival at École secondaire du Sacré-Coeur on Notre Dame
Saturday, April 27th! A warm thank you to the Conseil scolaire de district
du Grand Nord de l'Ontario for hosting this year’s festival in their
beautiful school.

“The theme of the festival this year is Sustainable Communities and we are
celebrating the great environmental achievements of the people and
organizations of Greater Sudbury”, says Katherine Mackenzie, festival
organizer.

New this year, visitors can exchange their gently used clothing and
children’s toys at a giant swap and cedar Street Yoga is offering a free
10am yoga session. As always, there are lots of activities for children
and youth, from planting seeds to animal workshops to art, music, and
storytelling.

There will be live musical performances throughout the day with a range of
musical groups. Visitors can enjoy the music while munching on dishes from
the local food fair – all of the food vendors will be featuring dishes
using at least one local ingredient.

Dozens of exhibitors will be there, featuring everything from local
businesses selling their environmentally friendly wares, to community
groups who work to protect our earth by engaging the community.

Join us at the Earth Day Festival: the kick off to Sudbury’s festival season!

About the Sudbury Working Group

The Sudbury working-group of The Media Co-op was formed to create independent media in the North, to speak to our issues and outlooks on our communities as well as the world around us. Independent media provides an avenue for people who are wishing to gain critical perspective on the issues that matter most to us, and to give a voice to those people and stories that you won't find in the mainstream media.
