SUDBURY’S CYCLING GRANNIES
COMMUNITY RIDE TO RAISE AWARENESS ABOUT SAFETY CONCERNS ON KELLY LAKE ROAD
WHEN? Saturday, September 7th – 10:00 am – 11:30 am
WHERE? Robinson Lake Playground
WHY? To give input to the Transportation Study and to raise awareness about the lack of proposed sidewalks and bike lanes on Kelly Lake Road.
WHAT? Cycle from Robinson Playground on Southview Drive to Kelly Lake Road up to the Copper Cliff Trail near Lorne Street and back to Robinson Playground (appr. 3km)
WHO? All Ages Welcome! Sudbury’s Cycling Grannies want to make roads safe for their families and friends and in particular their grandchildren.
DRESS? Red T-Shirts
Please join us in an endeavour to highlight the following points:
While doing upgrades to the Kelly Lake Road, or any other public roads, the City must ensure safe, non--‐motorized transportation by incorporating sidewalks and separate, paved bike paths
... this is not only our need.... it is our right....
Edge--‐line bike allowances are inadequate, inappropriate and dangerous – only strong and fearless cyclists will use them – about 1% of all cyclists! Asking cyclists to ride on a 6 inch edge- ‐line is like asking motorists to drive on a 7 foot car lane. WE LIKE LIVING ON THE “EDGE”.... WE JUST DON’T WANT TO CYCLE THERE....
Kelly Lake Road is the connecting road for the Junction Creek Waterway, the Copper Cliff and the Trans--‐Canada Bike Trails – A SAFE CONNECTION IS MANDATORY. Let’s make it usable for 100% of cyclists.
NOW IS THE TIME TO SHARE THE ROAD --‐ TO DO IT RIGHT
WE CANNOT AFFORD TO WAIT ANY LONGER NOR TO ACCEPT BAND--‐AID SOLUTIONS
LET’S SHAKE, RALLY & ROLL

The Sudbury working-group of The Media Co-op was formed to create independent media in the North, to speak to our issues and outlooks on our communities as well as the world around us. Independent media provides an avenue for people who are wishing to gain critical perspective on the issues that matter most to us, and to give a voice to those people and stories that you won't find in the mainstream media.
