As you prepare your yard for fall, take stock of some of the changes you’ve made this year.  How is your yard affecting watershed health?

If you:

  • Set up rain barrels,
  • Installed a rain garden,
  • planted trees
  • replaced hard surfaces with planted areas
  • used permeable materials for driveways, walkways and patios
  • disconnected your downspouts

…then you have helped to protect our lakes, rivers, and creeks.  You will have also helped reduce the risk of flooding during storms or big spring melts.

How?  By reducing the amount of run-off rushing into storm drains and into lakes and waterways, carrying debris and pollutants along with it.

We want to hear from you.  Send your stories and photos to clsudbury@live.com to help inspire others, and for the chance to win some great prizes.

About the Sudbury Working Group

The Sudbury working-group of The Media Co-op was formed to create independent media in the North, to speak to our issues and outlooks on our communities as well as the world around us. Independent media provides an avenue for people who are wishing to gain critical perspective on the issues that matter most to us, and to give a voice to those people and stories that you won't find in the mainstream media.
