Less than 10 days to get Earlybird Passes for Northern Lights 2014!

Sudbury, ON - Northern Lights Festival Boréal promises once again to be the musical event of the summer with an eclectic blend of indie, roots, world and modern music. Festival planning is well under way for the upcoming festival which will take place July 4th-6th, on the beautiful shores of Lake Ramsey. This year, NLFB has extended the Earlybird Pass sale beyond the holiday season, right until midnight, Valentine’s Day. Passes are currently on-sale for $60, tax included. When you break down the amount of musical entertainment and other great activities you get for the price, it is certainly a great value. Weekend passes include access to all performances, including evening feature shows and after-hours entertainment at The Townehouse Tavern. “This is the best deal you can get,” says Executive Director Max Merrifield, “the lineup is not yet announced, but rest assured, we have some really exciting bookings in the works that are guaranteed to blow minds.”

Earlybird tickets are on-sale online at www.ticketbreak.com/nlf, at Records on Wheels (107 Durham), Gloria’s Convenience (469 Bouchard), Jett Landry Music (1119 Lasalle), and at the NLFB office (19 Grey St. Suite 3). After February 14th advance tickets will be available for $85 incl. tax, and then $95 incl. tax at the gate. The full festival lineup is expected to be announced in early April, and is guaranteed to please music lovers of many tastes.

In other news, NLFB is also recruiting for its Board of Directors. The organization is seeking to increase representation from the francophone and Aboriginal communities, and also simply to recruit new members from a variety of professional backgrounds. Northern Lights Festival Boréal is Canada's longest continually running, outdoor music festival, and has become a seasoned presenter of music and arts in the North. It is the only event of its size and character in Northern Ontario, and as such provides exposure for musicians from the region, as well as a major destination for the finest touring acts from Canada and beyond. In addition to an exciting and diverse musical lineup, other features of the festival include: a visual arts village; workshop stages featuring one-of-a-kind collaborative performances; family entertainers and activities; a unique and vibrant festival site; and a multitude of vendors; crafters and exhibitors. Past festival  rosters have included such names as: Broken Social Scene, Serena Ryder, Colin James, Buffy Sainte-Marie, Stan Rogers, Jeff Healey, Daniel Lanois, Joel Plaskett and many more. In addition, the organization has a mandate to book a number of Aboriginal and francophone acts who are making  waves across the country. Over the years, the event has become internationally known for its unique character and atmosphere. The Sudbury working-group of The Media Co-op was formed to create independent media in the North, to speak to our issues and outlooks on our communities as well as the world around us. Independent media provides an avenue for people who are wishing to gain critical perspective on the issues that matter most to us, and to give a voice to those people and stories that you won't find in the mainstream media.
