FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
February 12, 2014

SUDBURY, ON - Northern Lights Festival Boréal is proud to support ‘The Big Basement Show’, the first indie music event of its kind in Sudbury. The event is presented and curated by local power-pop group The Almighty Rhombus, and will take place from Feb. 28th to Mar. 2nd. The group has booked an exciting diverse lineup of indie bands from across Canada including such acclaimed acts as Shotgun Jimmie, By Divine Right, Pistol George Warren, Marine Dreams, Ketamines and Strange Attractor. The organizers would like to announce a venue change for the afternoon programming (previously at Theatre Cambrian). These performances will now be moved to Grace Hall, at 468 Antwerp Ave. Clayton Drake of The Almighty Rhombus comments: “Yes, we've moved the venue, but it's only because Grace Hall is the most awesome spot we could possibly find to hold the Big Basement Show. Inside Grace Hall, we'll have couches, lava lamps, vintage exercise equipment, free arcade games, and N64, and a kickass PA and lighting rig - just like a real basement show. Once again, the Big Basement Show is NOT TO BE MISSED!”

Organizers would also like to announce that the band Crosss can no longer
make the gig, and will be replaced by psych/pre/post/punk label mates
Soupcans from Toronto (a worthy replacement!). The Big Basement Show
party begins Feb. 28th at The Townehouse and continues throughout the
weekend at The Townehouse and Grace Hall. Grace Hall events are all
ages licensed and Townehouse shows are 19+. Tickets are available online

Vinyl (595 Kathleen) and at The Townehouse (206 Elgin). Weekend
passes are $35, and day passes are $25. An interactive festival app/guide
can be accessed by downloading the free Eventbase app at Eventbase.com
and entering: ‘The Big Basement Show’. Further information can be
obtained by contacting Clayton Drake at 705-822-2976 or

About the Sudbury Working Group

The Sudbury working-group of The Media Co-op was formed to create independent media in the North, to speak to our issues and outlooks on our communities as well as the world around us. Independent media provides an avenue for people who are wishing to gain critical perspective on the issues that matter most to us, and to give a voice to those people and stories that you won't find in the mainstream media.
