of Greater Sudbury Thursday, June 5th

6th Annual Share the Road with an Olympian ride to

raise awareness of cycling and road safety

(Sudbury, Ontario – June 2, 2014)– Olympian and three time World Cup medalist, Devon Kershaw will join residents of the City of Greater Sudbury for the sixth annual Share the Road with an Olympian ride on Thursday, June 5th. Participants will ride to raise awareness of cycling and road safety and the importance of sharing the road.

Kershaw was drawn to promote the benefits of cycling, and the importance of cycling safety due to personal tragedy. Devon lost his girlfriend, Sofie Manarin, as a result of a cycling collision in 2001. Share the Road raises awareness on the importance of road safety to prevent further tragedies.

Devon will be joined by the City of Greater Sudbury’s new Chief of Police Paul Pederson, who will say a few words and pedal the route with the participants.

The event is a joint initiative between the Share the Road Cycling Coalition, Rainbow ROUTES Association and the City of Greater Sudbury.

Devon Kershaw will deliver remarks and lead participants on the ride.

WHEN:  Registration begins at 5pm. The five and 15 km rides will begin

at 6:15 p.m., rain or shine.
