Invitation to Green Stairs Art Walk 2014 – Friday, June 6th 2014, from 11:15 am to 1:00 pm - Green Stairs at Ste. Anne’s Road.
The Green Stairs Project Committee is pleased to announce the unveiling of Sudbury’s fifth Art Walk at the Green Stairs situated at Ste. Anne’s Road on Friday June 6th, 2014 from 11:15 am to 1:00 pm.
The Green Stairs project, spearheaded by Councillor Joscelyne Landry-Altmann,and lead artist Will Morin has evolved since 2006 with the successful installation of several safety features. Increasing pedestrian traffic was identified as being pivotal in achieving a safer area. Art and Heritage were introduced as a means to this end. The Green stairs are now part of the Rainbow Routes History Hikes. The Woman of Power sculpture, created by artist Will Morin in 2009, was unveiled in 2009 as the first art installment in the area.
Art Students from the neighboring secondary schools which include Sudbury Secondary, Marymount Academy and Collège Notre-Dame have participated, under the direction of their teachers, by submitting works of art created on wooden circles, depicting selected social themes. More than 50 original pieces of art are framed and displayed creatively along the stairs …thus the art walk.
Join us for The Art Walk at the Green Stairs, Ste Anne’s Road Friday, June 6th from 11:15 am to 1:00 pm. Refreshments will be served.

The Sudbury working-group of The Media Co-op was formed to create independent media in the North, to speak to our issues and outlooks on our communities as well as the world around us. Independent media provides an avenue for people who are wishing to gain critical perspective on the issues that matter most to us, and to give a voice to those people and stories that you won't find in the mainstream media.
