Desjardins Voyageurs Credit Union and the community collected over $1,300

Sudbury, June 2014– Over $1,300 will be given to the Sudbury St-Jean-Baptiste Organizing Committee. The amount was collected during the traditional pancake breakfast organized by Desjardins Voyageurs Credit Union.

Executive Director, Jean-Marc Spencer, would like to thank the community who contributed to the success of this event. «Even though the pancake breakfast was free of charge, it was heartening to see that people were ready to make a donation to a local organization», he explained. More than 300 people came out to the pancake breakfast held on Sunday, June 22nd.

In addition, for the seventh consecutive year, Desjardins Voyageurs Credit Union, in conjunction with its community partners, supplied the financial and human resources needed to hold the breakfast. «I’d like to thank all of the employees who helped with this event. This breakfast is a reflection, of our cooperative difference» Mr. Spencer added. «I would also like to thank Desjardins partners and various community businesses that also supported our breakfast ».

Over the past five years, Desjardins Voyageurs Credit Union has given over $8, 500 to the Sudbury St. Jean-Baptiste Organizing Committee. «The money awarded by the Credit Union and the community has helped to provide many exciting activities to celebrate this holiday over the years», said Lyse Lamothe, a member of the St-Jean-Baptiste Organizing Committee.

About the Sudbury Working Group

The Sudbury working-group of The Media Co-op was formed to create independent media in the North, to speak to our issues and outlooks on our communities as well as the world around us. Independent media provides an avenue for people who are wishing to gain critical perspective on the issues that matter most to us, and to give a voice to those people and stories that you won't find in the mainstream media.
