LULULEMON AND LAUNCHPAD PRESENT: MOVIE NIGHT UNDER THE STARS

Event Date: July 30th, 2014
Time: 8:00 pm
Location: 50 Cedar St.

July 25th, 2014

Organizers, Cliff Skelliter and Carolyn Bar, have teamed up to create an cinematic event for the community. Movie Night Under the Stars is taking place at 50 Cedar Street, parking lot (corner of Durham & Cedar, where 100 Georges once sat) in the heart of Downtown Sudbury. It will feature 1980’s BLOCKBUSTER The Ghostbusters. Just imagine being outside and Downtown as the Stay Puff Marshmallow Man destroys New York on the big screen.

This event is open to the public and will have no cover charge. Donations will be accepted via "pass the hat" to raise money money and awareness for the Downtown Indie Cinema Co-op. This Co-op supports local artists and is currently working towards creating a movie theatre downtown. The theatre will be an alternative to the only movie theatre Sudbury currently has in New Sudbury and will feature more independent and foreign films.

Carolyn (lululemon athletica Sudbury store manager) says: “I really love the idea of getting people from the community together for a movie night. Us Lemons enjoyed our summer together in Sudbury and wanted the local community to join us for our last date night."

Skelliter added: “Anyone that knows me, understands I’m a movie nerd and I love anything 80's related. Not to mention, I think this city is great, it’s definitely a keeper. So why not put all these things together and raise awareness for an incredible project… seems like a no brainer.”

The audience is required to bring their own seating. Lawn chairs, blankets, cushions, yoga mats - whatever suits their seating needs.

There will also be an acoustic performance by Hello Holiday front-man Jeff Valentini.

After-party will be held at Peddlers Pub where patrons can enjoy the beautiful new patio.

About the Sudbury Working Group

The Sudbury working-group of The Media Co-op was formed to create independent media in the North, to speak to our issues and outlooks on our communities as well as the world around us. Independent media provides an avenue for people who are wishing to gain critical perspective on the issues that matter most to us, and to give a voice to those people and stories that you won't find in the mainstream media.
