Local groups ask candidates some key questions in on-line survey
Get ready to ask YOUR questions at the Good Green Town Hall October 1
For Immediate Release
Sudbury, September 2, 2014 – Local groups have some important questions for candidates in the upcoming municipal election.
Candidates were sent the survey today, and are asked to complete it by September 15. Replies will be posted September 18, at sudburycandidates.ca.
The survey focuses on key questions on the topics of sustainable transportation, water quality, natural environment, local food, citizen engagement, and climate change.
These topics reflect the collective top priorities of the local environmental community.
A short list of the most important questions were decided on by consensus at the Spring 2014 Green Gathering, attended by representatives of twenty-two local ‘green’ groups.
The survey can be viewed at: http://sudburycandidates.ca/wp-content/uploads/2014/09/CandidateSurvey2014.pdf
Three questions chosen by the public are also included. Questions were submitted and voted on on-line by citizens. Water quality, local food, and sustainable transportation were top of mind for residents. The top ten questions chosen by citizens can be viewed at: http://sudburycandidates.ca/wp-content/uploads/2014/09/TopTenPublicQuestions.pdf

The Sudbury working-group of The Media Co-op was formed to create independent media in the North, to speak to our issues and outlooks on our communities as well as the world around us. Independent media provides an avenue for people who are wishing to gain critical perspective on the issues that matter most to us, and to give a voice to those people and stories that you won't find in the mainstream media.
