Sudbury, October 28, 2014 – “When my father was a child, he fell into frozen Ramsey Lake where they cut out ice blocks.” This is just one story shared by a guest at the opening of Voices Chez Nous. What’s yours? Local artists interpret local voices in this unique art exhibit.
Myths and Mirrors Community Arts and Coalition for a Liveable Sudbury invite you to Voices Chez Nous at Cambrian’s College’s Open Studio, 93 Cedar St. (suite 303), downtown.
October 25 – November 7.
Opening hours:
Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays: noon – 3:00 p.m.
Wednesdays: 5:00 p.m. -8:00 p.m.
Join us to enjoy the exhibit and add to it if you choose.
Closing: Wednesday, November 5, 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Join us in celebrating the full exhibit with refreshments, art, and art making – and a little something special to bring home.
Admission is free, but donations are welcome and will go towards supporting local artists and local grassroots community projects.
Over the past nine months, Sudburians have shared their stories, thoughts and dreams about the community. Twenty-one local artists came together for two days of creation at the Open Studio, inspired by these local voices collected during Coalition for a Liveable Sudbury’s Chez Nous on the Rocks project, and facilitated by Sarah King Gold of Myths and Mirrors. Special thanks go to our sponsors, Downtown Sudbury and Cambrian College’s Open Studio.
Participating artists are Spider Allen, Damián Arteca, Leesa Bringas, Carl Bruce, Jake Chakasim, James Cook, Corrie-Jo Delwo, Sarah Dempsey, Sarah King Gold, Tamara Gagnon, Naomi Grant, Asivak Koostachin, Jules Koostachin, Pawaken Koostachin-Chakasim, Tapwewin Koostachin-Chakasim, Sophie LeBlanc, Cait Mitchell, M’Komii-noodin Morin, Wii’um Morin, Will Morin, and Dani Taillefer.

The Sudbury working-group of The Media Co-op was formed to create independent media in the North, to speak to our issues and outlooks on our communities as well as the world around us. Independent media provides an avenue for people who are wishing to gain critical perspective on the issues that matter most to us, and to give a voice to those people and stories that you won't find in the mainstream media.
