Sudbury’s Biggest Beer Pong Tournament: Friday, Nov. 28 th
Northern Lights Festival Boréal (NLFB) is one of Northern Ontario`s foremost music presenters, hosting an annual 3 day festival of music and arts, as well as many other events each year. This year, NLFB is getting creative with fundraising, which means big plans for the summer festival. This Friday, NLFB will host Sudbury’s Biggest Beer Pong Tournament, and the event promises to be true to its name.
Beer pong is a party game, which has evolved from its days as a college dorm phenomenon, into a highly competitive ‘sport’ with a World Series and a $50,000 grand prize. The game simply involves tossing a ping pong ball into a cup of water or beer. Publicly the game is played with water to encourage safe and responsible partying.
NLFB is planning to send the winners of Sudbury’s tournament to the World Series in Las Vegas, where they will compete for the $50k grand prize. “The response to this event has been enormous,” says Event Coordinator Mark Varrin, “We have over 30 teams registered and we expect to get many, many more during the week. Don’t worry there are plenty of prizes for plenty of teams!”
NLFB launched the official promo video for the event today, which features Yves Charette, team Canada’s kickboxing coach, as well as a number of other Sudbury personalities, and some wild costumes. The tournament has a large amount of corporate teams as well, organizers note. NLFB will be offering a ‘Corporate Cup’ trophy (as well as bragging rights) to Sudbury’s top corporate team. Sudbury employers and media outlets have registered teams to compete in the competition.
In order to register, teams are asked to visit bpong.ca and sign up. ‘Party Passes’ (event tickets for all attending) are available via Ticketbreak.com or at Fromagerie Elgin, Jett Landry Music, Gloria’s Convenience, Walden Home Hardware, and the NLFB office.
