Sudbury, January 5, 2015 – “Wouldn’t it be cool if….” How would you finish that phrase in YOUR neighbourhood? A shared garden? Public art? An event? What would you like to see?
Project Impact is all about supporting small community projects that make a big difference. Have a great idea? Make it happen! Individuals, friends and neighbours, school or community groups – all can apply. So pull out that project you always wished would happen or walk around your neighbourhood with an eye for delightful possibility and apply.
Applications, more information and project ideas can be found at: http://www.liveablesudbury.org/projectImpact.html.
Or contact us at clsudbury@live.com or 705-691-5538.
The application deadline is January 30, 2015.
Project Impact will support small projects that will be completed by fall 2015. A maximum of $500 per project will be awarded. Proposals will be voted on by the public to select which projects will be funded. Everyone can be a part of making something happen!
“This project is all about inspiring people to get together and make good things happen where they live,” explains Lilly Noble. “Small changes make a big impact,” says Naomi Grant. “For example, recently someone hung colourful decorations among the branches along a pedestrian stairway. It’s something so small and simple, but it brightens people’s day and makes them feel happy to be part of a great neighbourhood.” “Another example,” Grant continues, “is a small boardwalk neighbours put together where a favourite trail often flooded. This small project makes an important difference every day for everyone enjoying their walk through the woods.” “There are so many great ideas for small projects that can make a big impact,” says Noble. “We are really excited to see what people come up with, and to be a part of making them happen.” Noble and Grant are co-chairs of Coalition for a Liveable Sudbury, which is leading Project Impact.

The Sudbury working-group of The Media Co-op was formed to create independent media in the North, to speak to our issues and outlooks on our communities as well as the world around us. Independent media provides an avenue for people who are wishing to gain critical perspective on the issues that matter most to us, and to give a voice to those people and stories that you won't find in the mainstream media.
