Press Release

Small projects make a big impact – vote for your favourites to make something good happen in your community.

Sudbury, February 10, 2015 – Community gardens. Milkweed for Monarchs.  Student designed banners, street sign toppers, and bird houses.  Murals.  Community art marking the path of Junction Creek under downtown.  Summer fairs.  Getting excited?

These are just a few of the projects submitted to Project Impact.  Now you can be part of making them happen.

Over thirty submissions came in from community groups and individuals all over Greater Sudbury.

Which projects will win?  It’s YOUR choice.

Join us March 7, 1:00 - 4:00 p.m. at the Parkside Centre (140 Durham) to see groups present their projects, connect in person, and cast your vote.

Or vote the week of March 9 at your local library, or on-line.

Winning projects will receive funding and volunteer time.

Contact us at clsudbury@live.com, or 705-691-5538 if you’d like to put in some time for the top projects, or have some great resources or tips to share.

You can also add to the funds set aside to support winning projects.  To make a donation, contact us or donate on-line. The more donations that are made, the more projects that can be funded.

Find Project Impact on-line at:  http://www.liveablesudbury.org/projectimpact.html.

Project Impact is all about supporting small community projects that make a big difference.  “Here is a quote from Marion Wright Edelman that I really like and I think fits beautifully,” shared Nicole Yantzi, a working group member with Project Impact.   "We must not, in trying to think how we can make a big difference, ignore the small daily differences we can make which, over time, add up to big differences that we often cannot foresee".

About the Sudbury Working Group

The Sudbury working-group of The Media Co-op was formed to create independent media in the North, to speak to our issues and outlooks on our communities as well as the world around us. Independent media provides an avenue for people who are wishing to gain critical perspective on the issues that matter most to us, and to give a voice to those people and stories that you won't find in the mainstream media.
