THIS CHANGES EVERYTHING is coming to Sudbury and you don’t want to miss it.
Sudbury, November 17, 2015 - This Changes Everything is a film that demonstrates why the changes needed to avert climate chaos are our best chance to build the more equitable, liveable and healthier societies we want and need.
Join us for this powerful message of hope, change and positive action.
This Changes Everything presents seven powerful portraits of communities on the front lines of both fossil fuel extraction and the climate crisis it is driving. Interwoven with these stories of struggle is Naomi Klein’s narration, connecting the carbon in the air with the economic system that put it there. The film builds to its powerful key idea: that in addressing the crisis of climate change we can transform our failed economic system into something radically better.
The film is based on the critically acclaimed non-fiction best-seller by award-winning journalist and author, Naomi Klein. Klein says, “Traveling around the world with the book in the last year, I’m finding audiences hungry for bold, visionary responses... The real leadership is coming from the streets, from communities: we’re honoured to tell these stories and bring these voices to a wider audience.”
“We see the impact of climate change in our own community, in the form of increased storms and flooding, the growth and spreading of invasive species, in the arrival of lyme disease, and in shorter snow seasons. We see the impact around the world. And, we see a growing need and desire for a better world where we care for each other and for our earth,” says Elaine Porter, member of the Sudbury Chapter of the Council of Canadians. “We are thrilled to be bringing this film to Sudbury, on the territory of the Atikameksheng Anishnawbek First Nation, and we encourage everyone to attend.”

The Sudbury working-group of The Media Co-op was formed to create independent media in the North, to speak to our issues and outlooks on our communities as well as the world around us. Independent media provides an avenue for people who are wishing to gain critical perspective on the issues that matter most to us, and to give a voice to those people and stories that you won't find in the mainstream media.
