Maley “Analysis of Alternatives” Meeting - March 10th:
A special meeting to consider viable, more practical and more attractive alternatives to the proposed Maley Drive Extension project will take place this Thursday March 10 at 1.30 p.m. at the Parkside Older Adults Centre to which those concerned have been invited including city councillors, local MPs, MPPs and the media.
This event is in response to survey findings by Friendly to Seniors – Sudbury and the local chapter of the Canadian Association of Retired Persons (CARP) that indicated over 95 percent favored the repair and maintenance of present road infrastructure before any new roads were built.
A number of other possible road repair and upgrading projects will be evaluated in relation to the Maley Drive Extension proposal. Over 20 factors will be taken into consideration and those attending will have the opportunity to provide input to the process.
Conducting the meeting will be Dr. David Robinson, economics professor at Laurentian University and Thomas Price a highly respected project manager with expertise in development evaluation. Both have examined all the factors and variables involved in assessing the various options.
Over 13 possible road repair and development endeavors will be discussed and evaluated using an alternatives benefit matrix with specific valuation criteria. A final grading will be given to the various alternatives which will be made available to local, provincial, federal government elected representatives and officials.

The Sudbury working-group of The Media Co-op was formed to create independent media in the North, to speak to our issues and outlooks on our communities as well as the world around us. Independent media provides an avenue for people who are wishing to gain critical perspective on the issues that matter most to us, and to give a voice to those people and stories that you won't find in the mainstream media.
