Party Cannon Explodes Into the Local Art Scene

No longer will you be able to say “There's nothing cool to do in Sudbury” now that Party Cannon has hit the scene! Party Cannon is a brand new concert and installation art promotions collective. Focused on bringing fun with tinges of absurdity to Sudbury's youth, Party Cannon goal is to make all shows all-ages and accompanied by cutting edge artists and music. Party Cannon will be hosting a press conference Tuesday, November 22nd at 10 am the Fromagerie. Light refreshments will be served, and all logistics and specifics will be discussed in detail. We encourage everyone to come!

Plans are already in motion, as Party Cannon's first event will be held Tuesday, November 29th at the Asylum (19 Regent Street), featuring Whitby noise-rockers 'chastity', and local bands 'Dirty Princes' and 'Dunes'. Having recently been signed to Captured Tracks, the same record label as Mac Demarco, chastity are scaling the Canadian music industry. Dirty Princes are Sudbury's greatest rock'n'roll band, featuring high-energy live performances with an absurd abundance of antics and showmanship, the band just released a new single titled “Armpit”, which is a response to the Vice News article comparing Sudbury to the stinky crevice. Slacker-rock Dunes have been making waves in the city, with a full-length album on the way soon.

Party Cannon events don't just put all their eggs in the musical basket, as there are many other entertainment mediums that will be featured large at hand. The Asylum will be transformed into a giant art installation, which will be curated by Nico Glaude, curator for Up Here. The event will feature art from Sudbury's own Sonia Ekiyor-Katimi, an absolutely astounding artist who is currently studying at Laurentian's School of Architecture. Party Cannon will also feature some of the hottest comedians from Hot Mess, and much more.

In order to make all this craziness unfold, Party Cannon needs your help! In exchange for free passes and volunteer hours, come help P arty Cannon plan the ultimate Tuesday night. Party Cannon is also interested in partnering up local non-profits, for-profits and sponsors.

For more information, come meet the team Tuesday, November 22 at 10 am, at the Fromagerie, visit us on Facebook or email us atpartycannonbooking@gmail.com.

About the Sudbury Working Group

The Sudbury working-group of The Media Co-op was formed to create independent media in the North, to speak to our issues and outlooks on our communities as well as the world around us. Independent media provides an avenue for people who are wishing to gain critical perspective on the issues that matter most to us, and to give a voice to those people and stories that you won't find in the mainstream media.
