Sunday, May 25: Sudbury Cyclists Union Bike Repair & BBQ
Time: 10am to 6pm
Location: Morgan Hall (150 King Street, Sudbury)
A time for us to gather, tuneup our bikes and get caught up with each other after a long winter. This year, we have a charcoal BBQ and a few new tools have been added to the available tool list. I don't stock parts here, so if your bike needs parts please bring them with you. Feel free to bring your own tools along too and a work stand if you have one. Bring whatever meats or salads etc. that you wish to have and BYOB&B (Bring Your Own Bike & Beer) We will be in the back yard of the house and this is a non smoking event, so anyone who wishes to smoke, there will be a smoking area set up for you.
The end time of six pm is for the bike repair itself. After that it's BBQ AND BEER/CIDER TIME!!!!

S-CAP is a direct-action anti-poverty organization based in Sudbury, Ontario, Canada. We provide direct-action support work assisting individuals in their struggles with welfare and ODSP, housing, employers, and others who deny people what they are entitled to in order to meet their needs. In addition, we mount campaigns against and support educational work about regressive government policies as they effect working people and people living in poverty. We believe in the power of people to organize themselves. We believe in the power of resistance!

Tuesday, May 27: Support the S-CAP 11 in Court
Time: 2pm
Location: Sudbury Court House (155 Elm Street -- ask which courtroom when you arrive)
In 2012, eleven members and supporters of the Sudbury Coalition Against Poverty went to Liberal MPP Rick Bartolucci's office to talk about homelessness, poverty and social assistance. When he refused to meet with them, they decided to open up a homeless shelter in his office to illustrate the scope of the problem. His response? He had them arrested.
In 2013, the S-CAP 11 were cleared of all charges.
But in a shocking waste of resources that could be used instead to address poverty, the Crown decided to appeal the decision.
This is the next appearance of the eleven activists, and they are asking people to be in the courtroom and show their support for meaningful action against poverty and their opposition to the criminalization of efforts to get peoples' needs met.

Saturday, May 31: Myths & Mirrors Dance-a-thon Fundraiser
Time: 8pm to 8am
Location: Fromagerie Elgin (80 Elgin Street, Sudbury)
Ever wish you could support community arts by dancing?
This might be the answer. Myths and Mirrors 2nd annual 12 HOUR DANCE-A-THON is a fundraiser where participants collect pledges from friends, family, co-workers, folks they know and proceed to dance all night long. However, this is not a prerequisite for participation. Just try to stay still though with non-stop music from 8 PM Saturday to 8 AM Sunday, curated by DJ Christian Pelletier and guests. We have lots of great prizes to be won through the night and some special ones reserved for the top pledge earners.
100% of the proceeds of this event go to support the outreach programming at Myths and Mirrors that brings art activities to marginalized members of our community.
Dreams do come true!
Visit our site http://raiseathon.ca/mythsdance to register or to sponsor a dancer. You can sign up as an individual or get a group together and sign up as a team of four!!

The Sudbury working-group of The Media Co-op was formed to create independent media in the North, to speak to our issues and outlooks on our communities as well as the world around us. Independent media provides an avenue for people who are wishing to gain critical perspective on the issues that matter most to us, and to give a voice to those people and stories that you won't find in the mainstream media.
