May 25 ‘March Against Monsanto’ to be held at Sudbury Market Square and Memorial Park in Greater Sudbury
GREATER SUDBURY, ON, 05 14 2013 - March Against Monsanto Sudbury announced today that on May 25, 75+ attendees will “March Against Monsanto”. The march will start at 10AM at Memorial Park led by the World Public Union. Free DVDs, handouts, and flyers will be distributed. They will then meet up with the main group at Market Square and will march back to Memorial Park. There they will feature speakers, entertainment from local artists Rob Roll and Khanadian, and a GMO-free meal.
Andrea, an organizer of the event, says she was inspired to lead the march in order to support local farmers and keep our food unmodified. “If our food isn't properly labeled, how can we possibly know what we're really putting into our body?” -Andrea Gustafson. The full March Against Monsanto mission statement can be read here.
In addition to the march, there will be a Sign-Making Workshop at 3PM on May 22nd at ReThink Green and a Sidewalk Chalk Art Exhibition at 6:30PM on May 22nd at Memorial Park. There will also be an “Overpass Light Brigade” style event on May 25th at 9PM at the Elgin/Brady Street overpass.
Partners facilitating the organizing of March Against Monsanto Sudbury include ReThink Green, Sudbury Social Justice News, and Coalition for a Liveable Sudbury. Official website for the global March Against Monsanto: www.march-against-monsanto.com.

The Sudbury working-group of The Media Co-op was formed to create independent media in the North, to speak to our issues and outlooks on our communities as well as the world around us. Independent media provides an avenue for people who are wishing to gain critical perspective on the issues that matter most to us, and to give a voice to those people and stories that you won't find in the mainstream media.
