opportunity to get the weekend pass at a great discount.” As is tradition, NLFB
plans to deliver an eclectic selection of arts & music, featuring highly acclaimed
names as well an intriguing roster of emerging artists.
NLFB is Canada's longest continuous running music festival and celebrated its
40th anniversary in 2011. NLFB has presented a multitude of acclaimed artists
including: Serena Ryder, Stan Rogers, Broken Social Scene, Buffy Ste. Marie,
Colin James, Daniel Lanois, Jeff Healey, a young Eileen ‘Shania’ Twain and
many more. Over the years NLFB has grown from a one day event called the
‘Northern Lights Folk Festival’, into a seasoned presenter of Canadian roots and
modern music. The modern NLFB experience can be described as, ‘a roots
music festival that loves modern music,’ or ‘a modern music festival that’s in love
with its roots.’

The Sudbury working-group of The Media Co-op was formed to create independent media in the North, to speak to our issues and outlooks on our communities as well as the world around us. Independent media provides an avenue for people who are wishing to gain critical perspective on the issues that matter most to us, and to give a voice to those people and stories that you won't find in the mainstream media.
