Cambrian College hosts province-wide student conference
SUDBURY – College students from across Ontario will converge at Cambrian College on May 6 for the annual College Student Alliance (CSA) May Changeover Conference.
A major lobbying voice for postsecondary students, the CSA aims to make education more accessible and affordable. Curtis Bell, President of Cambrian’s Students' Administrative Council and President of the CSA, is expecting to host about 75 of his colleagues at this year’s conference.
“It’s an important networking event for student leaders,” Bell says. “We’ll have an opportunity to hear from several speakers and to share best practices. This conference is about strengthening the student voice on campus and improving our collective credibility, because that voice is an important part of our future. The CSA runs from the bottom up; its direction depends on what students want to see happen.”
It had been years since Cambrian College won a bid to host a conference, so Bell says this represents an important opportunity to showcase the campus, the College community and the City of Greater Sudbury.
The conference takes place May 6-10, 2014. Most events take place in the Student Centre at Cambrian College; however, delegates will have a chance to tour Greater Sudbury for a little sightseeing. The gala and awards show takes place on May 10 at Science North. The conference agenda is attached as a PDF.
