Mimi Set to Perform at Science North Canada Day Celebration
Sudbury, ON – Celebrate Canada’s 146 th birthday with the whole family at Science North! Enjoy a full day and evening of family activities and entertainment including a spectacular fireworks display. This alcohol-free family day takes place on the grounds of Science North.
Mimi O’Bonsawin, a Sudbury-born artist is set to perform on Tuesday July 1st for Canada Day
celebrations at Science North.
Mimi’s positive, affirming songs are richly textured with her love of the great Northern landscapes she grew up with, and pulsing with her aboriginal, Abenaki, roots as well as the music and proud traditions of her French Canadian heritage. Mimi was born and raised in Hanmer, Ontario and her very first public performances were singing the national anthem for local hockey games at the Sudbury and Chelmsford arenas when she was just 6 years old. Mimi’s self titled debut album is set for release so here is your chance to hear this rising star and the beginning of her star-bound career. Multi-award winning singer/songwriter/guitarist, Thomas Wade, who also produced Mimi’s new album, will be leading the 9 piece band consisting of bass guitar, drums, keyboards, cello, violin, saxophone, guitar and 2 background singers.

The Sudbury working-group of The Media Co-op was formed to create independent media in the North, to speak to our issues and outlooks on our communities as well as the world around us. Independent media provides an avenue for people who are wishing to gain critical perspective on the issues that matter most to us, and to give a voice to those people and stories that you won't find in the mainstream media.
