Join your neighbours and the Ward 8 Community Action Network for a Spring Celebration, Monday, April 25, 7 p.m. at the Twin Forks Playground building! Kids welcome. Find out about some exciting projects and events in your neighbourhood. Get a tour of the newly renovated Twin Forks Playground community centre. Enjoy refreshments ( specifics?) Chat with your councillor. And most importantly, share what’s happening in your neighbourhood. What do you love? What needs to be addressed? What improvements would you like to see? Community gardens? Park or trail improvements? Safer streets? Your Community Action Network wants to hear from you so we can work together to make our neighbourhood even better!
This kicks off a series of community feedback sessions held by the Ward 8 CAN. “We’re embarking on a series of community events that will be held throughout the ward to hear what residents like and don’t like about their neighbourhoods” says Ward 8 CAN Chair Rachelle Niemela. “We think it’s important that residents have a say in what projects our CAN undertakes in our ward, what issues need to be addressed, and how we can work with the City of Greater Sudbury to make our ward the best it can be.” Ward 8 Councillor Al Sizer agrees “As Ward Councillor, I want to hear the concerns and suggestions of residents and I hope to see many people participate in this series of community engagement sessions.”
Watch for other community sessions in the Westmount and Don Lita areas, and opportunities to have a say on-line at http://ward8sudbury.ca, and Facebook and Twitter. You might also see the CAN at other community events around Ward 8, so come chat with us!

The Sudbury working-group of The Media Co-op was formed to create independent media in the North, to speak to our issues and outlooks on our communities as well as the world around us. Independent media provides an avenue for people who are wishing to gain critical perspective on the issues that matter most to us, and to give a voice to those people and stories that you won't find in the mainstream media.
