Press Release

You are invited - Chez Nous on the Rocks
video screening and open mic

What do you love about this community?  What would make it better?  Tell us!

For Immediate Release

Sudbury, June 10, 2014 – What do you love about Sudbury?  What do you value?  What positive change is needed?  What is your vision for this community we all share?  Take part in the conversation!

Join us for Chez Nous on the Rocks video screening and open mic, this Thursday, June 12, 7 p.m. at Fromagerie Elgin (80 Elgin Street, downtown; this venue is wheelchair accessible).

We’ll start out with some videos of what local folks have had to say so far, to get the discussion started.   Then we’ll have an open mic so that people can have their say.  We’ll finish up with more conversation and local jazz after 9.   And of course there will be awesome cheeses and other tasty snacks to share.

Maybe the provincial and local elections have you thinking about what Greater Sudbury really needs.  Maybe you love life here, and want to tell people why.  Maybe you’re working on an amazing project that will add to the community.  Maybe there are aspects of daily life here that have to change because they create barriers for you and your family.  Maybe you’ve got a vision for this community of ours!

We want to hear what you have to say!

It’s all part of Coalition for a Liveable Sudbury’s  Chez Nous on the Rocks video project:  http://www.liveablesudbury.org/videoproject.html.

“I have been amazed, moved, and inspired by what people have shared with us so far,” said Naomi Grant, chair of Coalition for a Liveable Sudbury.   “It’s exciting to have the chance to share some of that, and to hear new voices and new ideas at this event.  We invite everyone to come out”

About the Sudbury Working Group

The Sudbury working-group of The Media Co-op was formed to create independent media in the North, to speak to our issues and outlooks on our communities as well as the world around us. Independent media provides an avenue for people who are wishing to gain critical perspective on the issues that matter most to us, and to give a voice to those people and stories that you won't find in the mainstream media.
