Sisters in Spirit organized a full afternoon of activities today for the One Billion Rising event, a globally organized march to oppose violence against women. Approximately twenty-five women attended the women-only ceremonies earlier in the afternoon, which included an art project representing missing and murdered indigenous women, a welcoming prayer, a pipe ceremony, the Strong Woman Song, the Men's Healing Song and a circle ceremony. This was followed by a scone and soup supper to energize people for the march through the downtown core. Approximately fifty people participated in the march, which featured singing, drumming and a round dance in the centre of town.
